Why 3D Printing?

When we first started designing car parts, 3D printing was increasingly available. We thought, why not try to 3D print bushings and other parts? And so we did.

For performance bushings, which are usually made of cast polyurethane resin, they had to withstand at least the same forces as their cast version. In the 3D printing world, only TPU 95A exists, because of filament stability. Inter-layer bonding of TPU is the best there is of all printable materials.

Testing brought astonishing results : they resisted anything we would throw at them. Daily street driving to hot lapping days, and even drifting.

But what about temperature resistance? We put them through a thermal chamber to see at what temperature they would loose their mechanical properties. When reaching 140 Celsius (that’s 284 F), they would start to split between layers when submitted to shear forces. Well enough for anywhere on a car.

Why not just make them the traditionnal way of casting resin in a mold? For a few reasons :

  • Reduced cost of 3D printing VS casting
  • Time to manufacture
  • Ease of process
  • Minimal post processing

Which allows us to have a less costly product, that is as performing as other well known brands. We don’t cut corners: we strive to make the best possible parts for our own cars, and provide you the same level of quality and durability.
